Beth, there is no such thing as a stupid question.
Her name is Penelope Mae. I call her Penelope, but I don't like Penny as a nickname. Maebe is a fun variation of Mae and was used on a TV show called "Arrested Development" that aired a couple of years ago.
So far she has been called Penelope, Pineapple, Penny, Nellie, Lopie, Maebe Mae, and Adeline..er..Penelope.
I guess after a few years one of them will stick... I hope it's Pineapple.

So, I might be a ditz...but why do you call her Maebe if her name is Penelope?

I'm the most guilty of calling her "Adeline... er, Penelope". I think I called her Addie the entire time we were in the hospital.
